Strategic Plan

The College drafted its Strategic Plan in consistency with the regulations and directives of King Saud University. Two committees were formed to shoulder the responsibility of drafting the Strategic Plan according to a specific methodology. The two committees identified those to be involved in this process: the College’s top administration, heads of the academic departments, directors of the administrative departments, faculty staff members, staff, engineers, researchers, students, the University’s Rectorate for Development and Quality, Deanship of Quality, Deanship of Development, the University’s Rectorate for Projects, Employers of Architecture & Planning, Parents, and the Civil Community. The College has carried out the SWOT analysis with the aim of identifying the features characterizing the internal environment (points of strength and points of weakness), and those characterizing the external environment (opportunities and threats). The instruments that were used in this analysis include: questionnaires, workshops, interviews, direct observation, collection of the necessary documents and evidence. The analysis has focused on six main topics, namely, i) education and scientific research, ii) students, iii) labs, facilities and infrastructure, iv) human resources, v) administrative and financial development, and vi) community service.
The committee identified six strategic objectives touching on twenty four initiatives and forty one projects. These are as follows:
 
1. Quality and excellence in education and scientific research in Architecture and Building Planning (3 initiatives and 11 projects).
2. Raising the proficiency of graduating students and enhancing their abilities (4 initiatives and 7
    projects).
3. Creating a supportive educational environment (4 initiatives and 7 projects).
4. Enhancing the abilities of the entire academic staff (5 initiatives and 6 projects).
5. Developing a supportive administrative system (4 initiatives and 4 projects).
6. Forging societal partnership (4 initiatives and 6 projects).
 
For any unforeseeable circumstances that may appear during the implementation of the Strategic Plan, a change plan, a potential risk management plan, a communication plan, and a follow-up and evaluation plan have been drawn up. In addition to that, the Strategic Plan have been reviewed, assessed and rated by specialist consultants and advisors, and revisions were introduced accordingly, and finally was officially approved, documented and published.
