The Documentation and Information Unit was created in response to the desire from the part of the administration of the College of Architecture and Planning at King Saud University for the development of teaching methods, particularly with regard to multimedia, the building of a data base in the College’s areas of specialization, the provision and documentation of case studies as well as urban models for outstanding projects and for keeping pace with modern means of information, especially the latest one at the global, regional and local levels. This led to the emergence of a resourceful unit, teeming with information on the various disciplines and comprising numerous references, slides and maps that would help enhance the faculty’s research endeavors and the students’ technological activities in addition to enabling them to carry out their projects in the most effective way possible.
